Intarachit Transforms
Intarachit transforms into Phra Indra riding the elephant Erawan
Intarachit received three gifts from Phra Brahma at his birth: the Nagabat arrow, the Phromat arrow, and the Kumphaniya mantra.
Intarachit set up a pavilion under a banyan tree by the Sithandorn river, on the Yukhunthorn mountain, to perform a three day magic ceremony to enhance the Phromat arrow. Meanwhile Tosakan had instructed his chief general, Kampan, to continue fighting to hold off the enemy. Kampan was slain by Hanuman. Tosakan was so saddened by the death of Kampan that he sent Waiyakasoon to inform Intarachit. This in effect disrupted the ceremony, since it was not permitted to mention death while the ceremony was being performed.
Intarachit therefore stopped the ceremony and returned to the battle, changing his form to that of Phra Indra while Karunraj became the elephant Erawan. Meanwhile, the troops changed into dancing and singing angels.
The magnificent Erawan had 33 heads. Each head had seven tusks, each tusk had seven lotus ponds, each pond had seven lotus plants, each plant had seven lotus blossoms in bloom, each bloom had seven petals, each petal had seven angels, and each angel had seven ladies in attendance.
